APA stands for Advance Provisioning Allowance. You pay it before the charter to fund operating expenses such as fuel, food, drinks and marina fees. APA requirements vary with fuel costs, the distance to be covered, and other operating expenses. Confirm the applicable APA in your quote. Your captain accounts for spending, refunds unused funds after reconciliation, and asks you to settle any shortfall. APA funds these expenses rather than adding a second charge for the same items.
On a power catamaran, fuel comes out of the APA. As a result, longer days underway use more of it.
For BY MY SIDE in July, the €29,000 charter fee plus €3,770 VAT and €8,700 APA produces an initial budget of €41,470. Gratuity, relocation and any other agreed extras are additional. Final operating expenses depend on actual spending.
Your departure port can add cost, too. BY MY SIDE lists a €1,000 relocation fee from Šibenik to Split. Similarly, a Dubrovnik start costs €3,000 each way.
